Pieter & Samantha | Wedding | 401 Rozendal

rebeccagroves-wedding-photographer-401-rozendal-pieter-sam_0001 cover.jpg

The world is fast becoming a smaller place. I say this because in capturing weddings I get the privilege to hear stories of each couple and I cannot help but notice how so many love stories can be traced from various corners of the globe.

Pieter spent some of his childhood in Europe, and moved back with his family to South Africa, where he met Samantha, so their wedding day was an international affair.

Pieter & Samantha chose to have their wedding at the stunning venue of 401 Rozendal. With this rustic backdrop, the stage was set for a beautiful day with a jovial spirit and a sense of celebration of Pieter & Samantha’s union.

Alvin & Donna | Wedding | Vrede En Lust, Simondium

rebeccagroves_southafrica_uk_wedding_photographer_vredeenlust_donna_alvin 0001.jpg

I love hearing how couples met for the first time. For Donna and Alvin, it was on a Canadian bound plane journey where they first hit it off. Donna was flying back home to Canada from her work, at an NGO in Limpopo, and she just so happened to be sitting next to Alvin. And the rest (as they say in the classics) is history.

Having chosen the beautiful location of Vrede En Lust near Simondium as their venue, and complete with a bubbly group of family and friends from all over South Africa and the world, the stage was set for a magical wedding day.

Julian & Katia | Engagement

ebecca Groves Engagement Photography

It’s always a beautiful thing to see a couple in love, and this lovely pair are no exception. We drove up to Bedford to meet up with Julian and Katia for their pre-wedding shoot and Julian, being the romantic that he is, had already selected a great venue for the photo shoot – the historic Houghton house.

It was so lovely to meet Katia for the first time, and to capture just some of their joy and excitement from behind the lens as the big day approaches.
It’s going to be such a glorious wedding – I can’t wait!

Tabitha | Portrait Shoot

This year it has been great to connect with a fellow photographer, Tabitha from Illuminate Photography. Last month Tabitha and I decided we would take a day out, have a bit of a make over, and we would get in front of camera – a place a bit unfamiliar to us!

Vincent & Lidia | Klein Bottelary

Rebecca Groves Photography

In the beautiful valley of Klein Bottlery, in the heart of the Cape Winelands romance filled the air as Vincent & Lidia shared their vows in a picturesque, historic wine cellar. Accompanied by a skilled jazz band and an elegant and apt message from the minister, the happy couple made history on the day as they exchanged their rings.  Built in the 1800’s this wine cellar displayed the history and stories of the generations that lived there.  What a fantastic venue for anyone’s big day.

Michiel & Yolande | De Uijlenes

rebeccagroves-wedding-photographer-uk-southafrica-deuijlenes-M&L 01

The anticipation of a groom waiting for his bride to walk down the aisle is one of my favorite parts of a wedding. The nerves, the excitement and then the overwhelming emotions as he sees his bride for the first time with a huge grin forming from ear to ear. Watching Michiel go through this process as he saw Yolande walking down the aisle had me all overcome with emotion!

From the first moment I met with Michiel and Yolande to speak about their day I knew this was going to be a beautiful, romantic occasion.

Every wedding I go to is so unique to each couple – and this wedding just summed Graeme & Nicola up wonderfully. Graeme & Nicola are such a fun, warm hearted couple and they had chosen certain aspects of their day to be special for them. These things included making sure the wedding was eco-friendly and included their dog, Peter, in the day.
