The world is fast becoming a smaller place. I say this because in capturing weddings I get the privilege to hear stories of each couple and I cannot help but notice how so many love stories can be traced from various corners of the globe.

Pieter spent some of his childhood in Europe, and moved back with his family to South Africa, where he met Samantha, so their wedding day was an international affair.

Pieter & Samantha chose to have their wedding at the stunning venue of 401 Rozendal. With this rustic backdrop, the stage was set for a beautiful day with a jovial spirit and a sense of celebration of Pieter & Samantha’s union.

Thomas Merton the poet once penned the words,

“Love is our true destiny. We do not find love on our own, we find it with another”

And what a privilege it was to capture something of this love story – a love that brought a union together from east and west, and a wedding day that will long be remembered. A day that was full of music and poetry, love and laughter. And as the fresh spring buds on the trees showed new life two hearts were celebrating their union.

Robert & Erika decided to have their wedding at the lovely Hathersage in Somerset West, a beautiful setting for a stunning day.

Raphael & Melissa | Wedding | Kalk Bay

Kalk Bay is most definitely one of the most romantic destinations in the Cape for a wedding in my book. The harbour, the waters edge, the bohemian culture and sea life provide such a colourful rich backdrop for capturing a wedding day.

Melissa and Raphael pulled out all the stops to put their own personal stamp on the day. Those chose the stunning venues of Chartfield House to have their ceremony and Harbour House for their reception. They also even included a little moment with their beloved pugs and infused their Jewish and Greek cultures on the day.

It was such a pleasure to capture their day and I wish this beautiful couple all the best for their new life together.

Meet Keenan & Keren! How precious and sweet are these two?!

When Elana was pregnant, herself and her husband, Anton, were shocked to find out that they were expecting twins! A little girl and a little boy who were born just over a month ago, slightly premature. Anton & Elana really wanted to capture their two new little additions while they were still new born and invited me into their home to capture them all as a new family.

Keenan & Keren were so tiny and as good as gold as they lay their sleeping, occasionally they would also nestle into each other which was just adorable to see!

For anyone who didn’t know this, The word “photography” was created from the Greek roots φωτός (phōtos), meaning “light” and γραφή (graphé) meaning “drawing”- together meaning “drawing with light”.

It is no surprise then that a photographer’s eye is always in search of the light: the way it balances and reflects, how it dances and shines.

For Aimee and Davide, the weather, location and time of day all came together for a moment of great lighting and I was spoilt not just to be capturing a beautiful couple in a great location – but with some beautiful light to boot!

Aimee and Davide, it was a great pleasure to be behind the lens for you and I wish you all the joy and happiness as you start off your new lives together as husband and wife..

Juan & Lauren | Wedding | De Uijlenes

In a magical forest, surrounded by family and friends, Juan and Lauren said their vows. Followed by a spontaneous song dedication and picnic, this natural setting at De Uijlenes was a perfect context to celebrate love, joy and community.

A hearty reception including some touching speeches and a flash mob dance off by the bridal party were some of the special moments that marked the rest of Juan & Lauren’s special day….

After listening to Terrance & Francois’ romantic story of becoming engaged in Italy, I just knew their wedding was going to be equally as spectacular – and that it was.

They chose Constantia Uitsig as the backdrop of their special day, their wedding was actually one of the last to take place at this stunning venue, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

It’s a wonderful thing to see a beautiful family where children grow and thrive in a context of loving parents. As a photographer it is a privilege to be to be invited into these homes to spend a bit of time with these families and capture them. The Alberts family is no exception.

Andre & Liz’s children, Samuel and Zoe are so cute and it was with great joy I had the opportunity to capture this loving unit, along with Granny, who was visting from the UK on a lovely South African sunny day!

Macbeth Family Photo Shoot

I know what it is like to live away from your family.

So when there is a moment when you all get together to see each other it is so special.

I have known Sophie for a while now, and like me, she is from the UK and married a South African, David, and they decided to live here in South Africa.

In December Sophie’s parents, two sisters and brother came over to visit South Africa to enjoy the festive season altogether, and I’m sure the sunshine too!

Recently I have had the privilege of getting behind the lens for gorgeous little Stella Rose’s first year of life. Stella was born slightly premature last November and I have been doing photos of her from when she was 1 week old.

It has been amazing to see this little girl grow and develop into such a cutie pie! The Pettit family invited me to Stella’s 1^st birthday party a few weeks ago as we concluded our 1^st year of capturing this precious little life.
