Raphael & Melissa | Wedding | Kalk Bay

rebeccagroves-wedding-photographer-kalk-bay-raph-melissa_0001 cover.jpg

Kalk Bay is most definitely one of the most romantic destinations in the Cape for a wedding in my book. The harbour, the waters edge, the bohemian culture and sea life provide such a colourful rich backdrop for capturing a wedding day.

Melissa and Raphael pulled out all the stops to put their own personal stamp on the day. Those chose the stunning venues of Chartfield House to have their ceremony and Harbour House for their reception. They also even included a little moment with their beloved pugs and infused their Jewish and Greek cultures on the day.

It was such a pleasure to capture their day and I wish this beautiful couple all the best for their new life together.

Davide & Aimee | Engagement

rebeccagroves-wedding-photographer-engagement-davide-aimee_0001 b.jpg

For anyone who didn’t know this, The word “photography” was created from the Greek roots φωτός (phōtos), meaning “light” and γραφή (graphé) meaning “drawing”- together meaning “drawing with light”.

It is no surprise then that a photographer’s eye is always in search of the light: the way it balances and reflects, how it dances and shines.

For Aimee and Davide, the weather, location and time of day all came together for a moment of great lighting and I was spoilt not just to be capturing a beautiful couple in a great location – but with some beautiful light to boot!

Aimee and Davide, it was a great pleasure to be behind the lens for you and I wish you all the joy and happiness as you start off your new lives together as husband and wife..

Alberts Family | Portrait Session

rebeccagroves-wedding-photographer-alberts-family_0001.jpg

It’s a wonderful thing to see a beautiful family where children grow and thrive in a context of loving parents. As a photographer it is a privilege to be to be invited into these homes to spend a bit of time with these families and capture them. The Alberts family is no exception.

Andre & Liz’s children, Samuel and Zoe are so cute and it was with great joy I had the opportunity to capture this loving unit, along with Granny, who was visting from the UK on a lovely South African sunny day!

Thank you Andre & Liz for inviting me into your home and letting me capture you all!

Julian & Katia | Parkside School, Cobham, Surrey, UK

Someone once said, “Romance is the glamour that turns everyday dust into a golden haze”. Well, if that is true then Julian & Katia’s wedding was gloriously golden. Radiantly beautiful, she made her way down the aisle with her father as eyes connected and tears of delight streamed down her soon-to-be husband’s cheeks. These are the golden moments that make weddings glow. After I had captured Julian & Katia for their engagement, I knew their wedding day was going to be a joyous event. As friends and family cheered I couldn’t help but notice this community’s agreement and celebration in their union, and from the first note of singing to the last throw of confetti – joy was in the house!

Julian & Katia | Engagement

ebecca Groves Engagement Photography

It’s always a beautiful thing to see a couple in love, and this lovely pair are no exception. We drove up to Bedford to meet up with Julian and Katia for their pre-wedding shoot and Julian, being the romantic that he is, had already selected a great venue for the photo shoot – the historic Houghton house.

It was so lovely to meet Katia for the first time, and to capture just some of their joy and excitement from behind the lens as the big day approaches.
It’s going to be such a glorious wedding – I can’t wait!

Matthew & Heather | The National Liberal Club, UK

Rebecca Groves Photography

I thoroughly enjoyed photographing the wedding of Matthew and Heather in London. It was a grand occasion celebrated by many family and friends. The ceremony was held at St Martin-in-the-Fields, in Trafalgar Square – a bold and historic church building in central London. The almost angelic sounds of the church organ blending in with choir and congregants set the tone for this lovely couple to exchange their vows in the presence of their loved ones.

Couves | Family Shoot

Rebecca Groves Photography

Last Saturday was a fantastic day. After having visited the Pettit’s for Stella Rose’s 5 month shoot, we headed off into the winelands of Constantia to Steve and Vanessa Couves’ beautiful home. With a majestic garden wedged between a quiet river and an old Cape Dutch house, it was no surprise that we opted for an outdoor shoot.

James | 1 Week Baby Shoot

Rebecca Groves Photography

You might remember a while ago I captured the first year of little Willow’s life.  Now Ryan, Emily & Willow’s family have a new addition – little James came into the world 3 weeks ago, a little earlier than expected and he is so tiny and oh so cute! Emily asked me if I would capture the first week of his life and them altogether as a family.  It is so amazing to play apart of people’s lives at such a joyous, happy time and be able to capture moments for them that they will be able to treasure forever.

Stella Rose | 1 Week | Baby Shoot

rebeccagroves-wedding-photographer-uk-southafrica-baby-premature-S 01

Meet 1 week old baby Stella Rose! Oh my gosh, how cute and teeny tiney is she?

While Barbara and Charles were expecting, Barbara asked me whether I would capture the first year of little Stella’s life. Little did we know then that she would be premature and arrive a month earlier than expected.

I loved seeing how Lily and Harrison, Stella’s siblings, have welcomed her into the family with big hugs and smiles. The big sister and brother attitude has already kicked in. They love to hold her and give her lots of love.

Graeme & Nicola | Constantia Uitsig

Every wedding I go to is so unique to each couple – and this wedding just summed Graeme & Nicola up wonderfully. Graeme & Nicola are such a fun, warm hearted couple and they had chosen certain aspects of their day to be special for them. These things included making sure the wedding was eco-friendly and included their dog, Peter, in the day.
