Raphael & Melissa | Wedding | Kalk Bay

rebeccagroves-wedding-photographer-kalk-bay-raph-melissa_0001 cover.jpg

Kalk Bay is most definitely one of the most romantic destinations in the Cape for a wedding in my book. The harbour, the waters edge, the bohemian culture and sea life provide such a colourful rich backdrop for capturing a wedding day.

Melissa and Raphael pulled out all the stops to put their own personal stamp on the day. Those chose the stunning venues of Chartfield House to have their ceremony and Harbour House for their reception. They also even included a little moment with their beloved pugs and infused their Jewish and Greek cultures on the day.

It was such a pleasure to capture their day and I wish this beautiful couple all the best for their new life together.

Stella Rose | 1 Year | Baby Shoot

rebeccagroves-photographer-stella-1yr-birthday-party 0001.jpg

Recently I have had the privilege of getting behind the lens for gorgeous little Stella Rose’s first year of life. Stella was born slightly premature last November and I have been doing photos of her from when she was 1 week old.

It has been amazing to see this little girl grow and develop into such a cutie pie! The Pettit family invited me to Stella’s 1st birthday party a few weeks ago as we concluded our 1st year of capturing this precious little life.

Richie & Marina | Wedding | Byron’s Bay, Australia

I always get inspired when I meet couples that live in the goodness of life. Meeting Richie and Marina in Cape Town a few years ago I very quickly became aware of their zest for travel, love for humanity and passion for each other. Having traveled through South America, Africa and India, they had so many wonderful and interesting stories to tell. Coupled with that, they had recently had a new addition to the family – little Ruby Olivia who had brought such joy to them.

I love beautiful wine farms – the wonderful green vineyards, picturesque settings and tranquil atmosphere always make a great wedding that much greater.

Tokara Wine Estate was certainly no different, and what a joy to see a beautiful couple so in love.

Photographing Niall and Carin’s wedding was such a joy right from their preparations, vows, celebrations, speeches.

The other day, Nick surprised me and took me to 5 Ryneveld in Stellenbosch for dinner, and Natasha Meister was playing in the courtyard. After our meal we pulled up a chair and had a drink with her and her manager Richard Harris.

Natasha is an amazing musician and that coming Sunday afternoon she was going to be performing with the equally amazing Jimmy Dludlu at Hillcrest Quarry and so we arranged for Nick and myself to go along and capture the event for them.

Van Schoor Family | Die Laaitjie, Robertson

I love being in nature. It is one of the reasons why I’m so happy to live in Cape Town – you are always an hours drive away from natural beauty, and nothing compares to getting out of the bustling city and finding your own little piece of heaven as you spend a few days relaxing in the wild.

Julian & Katia | Parkside School, Cobham, Surrey, UK

Someone once said, “Romance is the glamour that turns everyday dust into a golden haze”. Well, if that is true then Julian & Katia’s wedding was gloriously golden. Radiantly beautiful, she made her way down the aisle with her father as eyes connected and tears of delight streamed down her soon-to-be husband’s cheeks. These are the golden moments that make weddings glow. After I had captured Julian & Katia for their engagement, I knew their wedding day was going to be a joyous event. As friends and family cheered I couldn’t help but notice this community’s agreement and celebration in their union, and from the first note of singing to the last throw of confetti – joy was in the house!

Stella Rose | 5 Months | Baby Shoot

Rebecca Groves Photography

This year I am capturing the first year of little Stella Rose’s life. A while ago I spent time with the Pettit family and photographed Stella when she was only 1 week old. She was tiny then – as she had arrived in the world one month premature. Well, she is now 5 months old and it was amazing to see how she had grown, not only in size but in cuteness as well, in such a short space of time!

5 Months old is one of my favourite times to capture a baby, as they are just starting to develop their little facial expressions – as you will see many below given by Stella.

Niall & Carin | Engagement

rebeccagroves_wedding-photographer-southafrica-uk-constantia-C&N 01

I love my job. I get to take photos of people in love, and every shoot captivates a unique story from each couples lives. Capturing Niall and Carin together in the wonderful setting of the Alphen Green Belt in Constantia made me think of how even more unique and beautiful their wedding day will be September this year. Aside from getting interrupted by just about every breed of dog imaginable, we managed to get through the session, and have some fun and laughter along the way. It was lovely to include some fun props they brought for the shoot, along with the color themes that will be included in their wedding decor.

The Little Kings | Kalk Bay

I always like new challenges coming my way, so when the band The Little Kings asked me to do a shoot for them, I jumped at the chance! 🙂
We all met up in one of my favourite places in Cape Town, Kalk Bay, where the Little Kings were doing a gig that evening. I love Kalk Bay for its quirky little shops, amazing restaurants, colourful walls and ‘bohemian feel’.
