Alberts Family | Portrait Session

rebeccagroves-wedding-photographer-alberts-family_0001.jpg

It’s a wonderful thing to see a beautiful family where children grow and thrive in a context of loving parents. As a photographer it is a privilege to be to be invited into these homes to spend a bit of time with these families and capture them. The Alberts family is no exception.

Andre & Liz’s children, Samuel and Zoe are so cute and it was with great joy I had the opportunity to capture this loving unit, along with Granny, who was visting from the UK on a lovely South African sunny day!

Thank you Andre & Liz for inviting me into your home and letting me capture you all!

Job & Kim | Wedding | Houwhoek Inn

rebeccagroves-wedding-photographer-houwhoek-inn-kim-job_0001 cover.jpg

I love hearing the unique stories behind each of the couples I have the privilege of working with on their big day. Kim and Job are an international couple – Kim is from South Africa, and Job is from Belgium. They met in Belgium while Kim was on an internship for her law degree there.

Once engaged, (see Job’s amazing proposal here), Job made the move to beautiful Cape Town, and has a deep love for this land and it’s people.

When two cultures collide at a wedding it always turns out to be a colourful event. Job & Kim infused the Belgium culture wedding traditions with the South African ones. Job bought over the best of Belgium beer for the wedding and his family also planned a traditional theatrical performance that had the audience erupting with laughter. When the dancing started, Job’s brother took to the dance floor and taught the entire wedding party traditional Belgium dancing.

Macbeth Family Photo Shoot

rebeccagroves-wedding-photograph-macbeth-family 0001

I know what it is like to live away from your family.

So when there is a moment when you all get together to see each other it is so special.

I have known Sophie for a while now, and like me, she is from the UK and married a South African, David, and they decided to live here in South Africa.

In December Sophie’s parents, two sisters and brother came over to visit South Africa to enjoy the festive season altogether, and I’m sure the sunshine too!

Stella Rose | 1 Year | Baby Shoot

rebeccagroves-photographer-stella-1yr-birthday-party 0001.jpg

Recently I have had the privilege of getting behind the lens for gorgeous little Stella Rose’s first year of life. Stella was born slightly premature last November and I have been doing photos of her from when she was 1 week old.

It has been amazing to see this little girl grow and develop into such a cutie pie! The Pettit family invited me to Stella’s 1st birthday party a few weeks ago as we concluded our 1st year of capturing this precious little life.

Richie & Marina | Wedding | Byron’s Bay, Australia

rebeccagroves_richiemarina_wedding-byronsbay-australia 0001 cover.jpg

I always get inspired when I meet couples that live in the goodness of life. Meeting Richie and Marina in Cape Town a few years ago I very quickly became aware of their zest for travel, love for humanity and passion for each other. Having traveled through South America, Africa and India, they had so many wonderful and interesting stories to tell. Coupled with that, they had recently had a new addition to the family – little Ruby Olivia who had brought such joy to them.

Alvin & Donna | Wedding | Vrede En Lust, Simondium

rebeccagroves_southafrica_uk_wedding_photographer_vredeenlust_donna_alvin 0001.jpg

I love hearing how couples met for the first time. For Donna and Alvin, it was on a Canadian bound plane journey where they first hit it off. Donna was flying back home to Canada from her work, at an NGO in Limpopo, and she just so happened to be sitting next to Alvin. And the rest (as they say in the classics) is history.

Having chosen the beautiful location of Vrede En Lust near Simondium as their venue, and complete with a bubbly group of family and friends from all over South Africa and the world, the stage was set for a magical wedding day.

Niall & Carin | Tokara Wine Estate, Stellenbosch

I love beautiful wine farms – the wonderful green vineyards, picturesque settings and tranquil atmosphere always make a great wedding that much greater.

Tokara Wine Estate was certainly no different, and what a joy to see a beautiful couple so in love.

Photographing Niall and Carin’s wedding was such a joy right from their preparations, vows, celebrations, speeches.

Natasha Meister & Jimmy Dludlu | Hillcrest Quarry

rebeccagroves-wedding-photographer-south africa-uk-natasha meister-jimmy dludlu 0001.jpg

The other day, Nick surprised me and took me to 5 Ryneveld in Stellenbosch for dinner, and Natasha Meister was playing in the courtyard. After our meal we pulled up a chair and had a drink with her and her manager Richard Harris.

Natasha is an amazing musician and that coming Sunday afternoon she was going to be performing with the equally amazing Jimmy Dludlu at Hillcrest Quarry and so we arranged for Nick and myself to go along and capture the event for them.

Van Schoor Family | Die Laaitjie, Robertson

I love being in nature. It is one of the reasons why I’m so happy to live in Cape Town – you are always an hours drive away from natural beauty, and nothing compares to getting out of the bustling city and finding your own little piece of heaven as you spend a few days relaxing in the wild.

Julian & Katia | Parkside School, Cobham, Surrey, UK

rebeccagroves-wedding-photographer-uk-southafrica-J&K 0001a cover.jpg

Someone once said, "Romance is the glamour that turns everyday dust into a golden haze". Well, if that is true then Julian & Katia’s wedding was gloriously golden. Radiantly beautiful, she made her way down the aisle with her father as eyes connected and tears of delight streamed down her soon-to-be husband’s cheeks. These are the golden moments that make weddings glow. After I had captured Julian & Katia for their engagement, I knew their wedding day was going to be a joyous event. As friends and family cheered I couldn't help but notice this community's agreement and celebration in their union, and from the first note of singing to the last throw of confetti - joy was in the house!
